How do you make your work?

Every piece of glass begins as a 2000 degree molten blob of glass. Using long hollow steel rods, the molten glass is gathered up on the ends like honey. The glass is manipulated and shaped with careful and deft use of a variety of different hand tools. As the glass cools and solidifies, it is softened again in a reheating forge, to allow further shaping or coloring. Once the desired form is made, the piece is placed in a special kiln that slowly cools down the glass, over the course of a day or two, until it reaches room temperature. This cooling process relieves all the stress and weakness that would otherwise build up in the piece, if allowed to cool too fast. The end product is a durable and beautiful work of art and craft.

Is your glass food/dishwasher safe?

All of our glass is perfectly food safe and dishwasher safe (top shelf only). However, for optimum care and to maintain the original brilliance of your glass, I recommend hand-washing with a liquid detergent.

Why does my glassware look a bit different from what I see online?

This is the unique beauty of handcrafted glass! I strive for consistency in the work I produce and am proud to offer the highest quality and craftsmanship. Because each piece is made by hand, one at a time, there will be some variation in size, color and shape. Each piece is genuinely one-of-a-kind!

Where is my order/Why hasn’t it shipped yet?

Due to the small scale of my studio operation at this time, normally items are made as I receive your order and will only have a handful of product already made and in stock ready to ship. Depending on the size of your order, it could take some time to produce and ship it to you. Please Allow 2 weeks from the time I receive your order to getting a shipping notification. Custom orders may take longer to create but I do my best to give accurate estimates.

What is your return policy?

Due to the handmade nature of my products, I understand that occasionally an item may not be what you expect and will happily accept your return within ten business days of delivery, minus a 10 percent restocking fee. The original packaging must be used and it must arrive undamaged and in perfect condition to qualify for a refund. In order to expedite the processing of your return, you must email me at returns@ungerglass.com and include your order number, name and email address used to place the order so we process the refund.

Custom orders are not eligible for return.

Please note: The buyer is responsible for return shipping. Custom orders are not eligible for returns.

My order arrived damaged. What can I do?

If any part of your order arrives damaged, please provide detailed pictures of the packaging and damaged items and we will process a full refund for you as soon as possible. Or, at your option, we will send a replacement at no cost to you.

In the case that a unique and irreplaceable art piece arrives damaged, a full refund will be issued.
